Bhutti Weavers welcomes you to the most reputed name in the hand-woven woollen shawl industry in Kullu. Since 1944, Bhuttico has been keeping alive the Himalayan traditions in step with the latest trends. In 1993-94 Bhuttico proved itself the best in the business of handloom shawls by winning the National Award (GOLD) from the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India. A group of 12 weavers from Bhutti village came together in the year 1944 and established a cooperativesociety known as the Bhutti Weavers Cooperative Society. Working of Bhuttico remained inactive till Mr. Ved Ram Thakur joined it in 1956. He brought in his vision to transform it from a docile institution into a dynamic business house that has then since maintained its unique position as a marketleader in the shawl industry.
After the sad demise of Mr. Thakur in 1971, his dream of making Bhuttico the biggest name in the hand-woven shawl industry has been kept alive. Over the years, Bhuttico has not only turned out to be a National name, besides it has earned a reputation for itself for quality products at reasonable price. In the year 1993-94, Bhuttico proved itself as the best in the business by winning the National Award (Gold) from Ministry of Textiles, Government of India.The PHD chamber of Commerce and Industry, that bestowed upon it the UdyogRatna Award (conferred by Virbhadra Singh – the Honorable Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, India) for its role in social economic development in 2005. The National Co-operative Development Corporation (under the Ministry of textiles), that merited it with a Cooperative Excellency Award for its performance in the co-operative sector in 2009. And the Yeoman Service and Leadership Textile Industry NISTII-IIT, 2009.
In 2015 the weaving community remains an ‘A’ class society (a ranking it has maintained continuously for the last thirty odd years- visible in its logo) and at the forefront of Kullu’s hand loom industry with its 675 weavers and 25 master weavers having produced an output exceeding 1, 25,000 garments and net sales of 13 crores(approximate). The society also holds an ISO 9001: 2008 certificate for quality practices conforming to international standards and markets its products via thirty one outlets under its own trademark, exhibitions and exports to countries such as: Belgium, France, Great Britain, Russia, Japan, China, Spain and the USA.

"Bhuttico" Cooperative Society has not only its own weaving sheds, but also its own housing colony. The Society has a community centre, sports club and a cultural activities club. Member weavers receive all kinds of employment benefits including pension.
